What to Do in a Dental Emergency
Dental emergencies can occur at any time and require prompt attention to alleviate pain and prevent further damage. If you experience a dental emergency, it is crucial to stay calm and follow the guidelines below. Our practice is here to assist you with any urgent dental needs, both during regular working hours and on weekends.
Normal Working Hours:
During our regular working hours, please call our number on 01492 547 223. If you are a registered patient of the practice, we recommend phoning as early in the day as possible to ensure we can arrange an appointment for you as soon as possible.
Our Phone Lines are open
Monday to Friday: 9:00 – 13:00 and again from 14:00 – 17:00.
Out of Hours
On weekends or bank holidays, between 9 am and 1 pm, and if you are a Private or Denplan registered patient, please get in touch with the on-call dentist on 07584 353 790.
If you are with Denplan, please see below for emergency treatment, depending on the circumstances:
Within 40 miles of your usual dental practice, call the practice and follow the instructions given. You’ll need your Denplan policy number to hand. The dentist you see will manage all of the paperwork, so you don’t have to.
More than 40 miles from your dental practice – if you’ve got supplementary insurance, Denplan can help you find a local dentist who can help. Alternatively, arrange an appointment and you may be able to claim the cost back from Denplan.
Outside of the K, if you don’t have supplementary insurance, arrange an appointment, and you may be able to claim the cost back from Denplan.
If you pay for treatment and want to claim the cost back against your Denplan policy, ensure you keep hold of any receipts.
If you are an NHS patient, please call 111.
How much does an emergency appointment cost?
If you need out-of-hours advice over the phone, there isn’t usually a cost for this. However, if you require an appointment, a call-out fee may be applicable.
The on-call dentist will be able to provide all the necessary information.
If you are a private patient, there will be a cost of £165.00 to cover the out-of-hours call-out fee.
