What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are titanium posts surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as artificial roots for replacement teeth. They provide a stable foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures, mimicking the function and appearance of natural teeth. This permanent solution not only restores the aesthetics of your smile but also helps maintain jawbone health and prevent bone loss.
Reasons for Needing Dental Implants
Dental implants are recommended for individuals who:
Have one or more missing teeth.
Experience difficulty chewing or speaking due to tooth loss.
Wish to improve the appearance of their smile.
Want a long-lasting alternative to traditional dentures or bridges?
Seek to preserve their jawbone and facial structure.
Our Dental Implant Services
Traditional Dental Implants Dental implants are an effective and long-lasting solution for replacing missing teeth. Composed of a titanium post that integrates with the jawbone, they provide a stable foundation for crowns, bridges, or dentures, mimicking the function and appearance of natural teeth.
Full Arch Implants Full arch implants are an ideal solution for patients missing all or most of their teeth in one or both jaws. Using advanced techniques, we can secure a complete set of prosthetic teeth with just four to six implants, offering a comfortable and natural-looking restoration.
Zygomatic Implants For patients with insufficient bone in the upper jaw, zygomatic implants offer an innovative alternative. These longer implants anchor into the zygomatic bone (cheekbone), providing a solid foundation without the need for bone grafting, making them a viable option for those with severe bone loss.
Pterygoid Implants Pterygoid implants are a specialised solution for patients with minimal bone in the posterior upper jaw. By anchoring into the pterygoid plate, these implants provide excellent stability and support for dental prostheses, expanding the options available for complex cases.
The Treatment Process
Initial Consultation: During your first visit, our implant dentist will conduct a thorough examination, including X-rays and a CT scan if necessary, to assess your oral health and determine the implant solution for you.
Treatment Planning: Based on your specific needs and goals, we will create a personalised treatment plan. This plan will outline the type of implants, the number needed, and the expected timeline for your treatment.
Surgical Placement: The implants are surgically placed into the jawbone under local anaesthesia. The procedure is carefully performed to ensure optimal placement and integration.
Healing and Osseointegration: Over the next few months, the implants will fuse with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. This creates a strong and stable foundation for your new teeth.
Abutment and Crown Placement: Once the implants have fully integrated, an abutment is attached to each implant. The final step involves placing the custom-made crowns, bridges, or dentures onto the abutments, completing your new smile.
Follow-Up Care: We provide ongoing support and follow-up care to ensure the longevity and health of your implants. Regular dental check-ups and proper oral hygiene are essential for maintaining your restored smile.
